Shoals Animal Advocates’ Mission is two-fold.

First, to pull animals from shelters and rescuing homeless dogs and cats from Colbert, Lauderdale and Franklin Counties to spay, neuter, vaccine as well as providing surgery and treatment as needed and place them in foster homes until they are either adopted or sent to rescue. SAA does not have a shelter or a boarding facility but relies on the kindness and generosity of animal lovers who open their hearts and homes to foster. Second, is to establish volunteer group at shelter to implement daily pet care, intake/medical, foster, rescue, offsite adoption and fundraiser programs. SAA is a 501(c)3 organization operated by an all-volunteer staff.

Catch the Vision, Share our Mission, Make a Difference

We rely solely on donations and your generosity enables us to rescue and care for dogs and cats until they are adopted or sent to rescue. In some cases, extensive medical treatments are required in addition to the routine spay-neuter, rabies, vaccinations, heartworm/parvo/distemper testing. We also purchase canine and feline vaccine, wormer, medication, dog house, kennel, pet food for our fosters, etc.

At last, we pay gas expense to transport our precious cargo to rescue. Most of the times when our fosters are taken to rescue we don’t recover any of our expenses and our adoption fee of $75 doesn’t cover the basic vetting they receive.
